French Tax Returns

I bought my leaseback three years ago and had a three year tax return by SARL Gefi built in.I have never received any copies of the returns from them.Has anyone dealt with SARL Gefi or have an e-mail address for them. Also, does anyone know if there is a way to get your details from the French Tax Office.

Gerryh

Gerry, the email address I have for them is the same as Chrisr mentionned: aubert.capy@wanadoo.fr

I used them until 2007, came back to France and cancelled the contract. They sent me every year a tax form (called Declaration de TVA number CA 12) and other information and document to fill in. Every year they sent me a notification of tax. You should ask them for details.

All the best

Srunner,

I managed to contact them and they have no record of me.So I've now got a new company in to return the last 3 years for me.

Gerry

Hi Gerry, Thanks for your answer.

Is the new company you are talking about Eurefi?

My wife and I just bought a leaseback and we use SARL GEFI for our tax. I am very confused as to the procedure for submitting tax forms. Should the forms be sent directly to me from the French tax office or do I need to download them or does SARL GEFI send them? Do I submit the tax forms to SARL GEFI? Is there someone at SARL GEFI who speaks English if I need help? Maybe someone could give me the simple version of what needs to be done. Thanks for any helpful advice.

SARL GEFI send us a questionnaire at the end of each year for us to complete and send back to them within about 4 weeks. The form is very straightforward, you just have to give details of all your income and expenses relating to your leaseback. Shortly after that you will receive a letter from them giving you the information you have to put on your tax return. They will give you the address of your local tax office – write to them requesting the forms (2042K & 2042CKB). On Form 2042 we just give our telephone number, e-mail address, X the box saying we don’t have a TV and X the box saying we are completing the complementary form (2042CKB) and then sign and date (if this is the first time you have completed the form you may have to give other details such as name and address, date of birth etc). On Form 2042 CK complete the boxes with the information provided by GEFI, sign, date and return. Keep a copy for your own records. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Ann

I agree with what Ann has said, although I did not 'X' the box saying I don't have a TV licence - my leaseback does, although we are not responsible for paying it (the management company are). In previous years the tax office has tried to get us to pay this but it is not our responsibility. I'm not completely sure whether we should be 'X'ing the box - does anyone know definitively?

Chris

Thanks Ann and Chris for the reply. Just one more question, is it possible to download the Forms 2042K and 2042CKB? I live in China and it takes ages for any correspondence to get here and I may miss the due date.

Yes it is possible. http://www.impots.gouv.fr/portal/dgi/home?pageId=home&sf id=00 go to Particulier and then Téléchargez vos formulaires par internet

you can even fill the form on line and declare the tax on line as well.

Best

Thanks for the website, just a few more (probably stupid) questions from someone new at this. I found some forms online at the webpage you gave but these are forms 2042 and 2042 C. I assume these are the same as No. 2042 K and 2042 C? AS well, I don't see anywhere on the forms to indicate the location of my leaseback property. Is this information already in the French tax computers from somewhere else?

Jeff

there is no stupid question!

2042 K is the same as the 2042, use it to declare your salary if any in France (other wise write 0) below 1. Traitements, salaires, prime pour l'emploi, pensions et rentes

and 2042 CK is the old 2042 C , use it if your leaseback is LMNP - section C on the form. If you have bought your property in 2007, paid for some renovation (and so on) in 2007, or if you have a tax rabate ... you have to declare them in the section 7 (charges ouvrant droit a reduction ou a credit d'impot ), under Investissements locatifs dans le secteur touristique.

regarding the 2044, it is still called 2044: Declaration des revenus fonciers, where you have to mention your rent and so on

I advice you to call the Centre des Impots des non residents (CDI) 00 33 1 57 33 83 00 or to email them nonresidents@dgi.finances.gouv.fr

they are friendly and will help you.

Good luck

Hi Gerry,

I too use them. The email address we normally use is aubert.capy@wanadoo.fr. Usually the tax office write to us about income tax and VAT declarations so it sounds like you may not be in the system yet. I would drop Gefi an email to find out whether you're on their books.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that.Unfortunately we have our place 3 years now! so I'm a bit worried.Have SARL Gefi always sent you returns each year?I will e-mail them anyhow to see what's what.

Regards,

Gerry.

Gerry,

Yes they are pretty diligent, particularly with their bills for doing the income tax and VAT! It definitely sounds like you've been overlooked (a position I wish I was in sometimes with the tax-related bills and correspondence I have to deal with!).
