Odalys - A trouble shared is a trouble halved

Reading the Odalys threads I have that feeling of "Déjà vu". Will it follow the path of others like Residhotel, Antaeus and Transmontagne (to name a few) and what will that path be? When your leaseback starts to have problems there is no guide book! Your rent payments become later and later. Your contact in the management company (if you have one) replies less or eventually not at all. If you are lucky you will receive a letter (in French) that explains that due to the economic climate, cash flow has been affected and all that can be done is being done. Almost inevitably something will change. Maybe you will receive a letter asking to accept a rent reduction. Maybe your first communication will be from the administrator informing you that the company is in "sauvegarde" (administration).

All of this is stressful and it will be accentuated by language difficulty, the complexity of French commercial law and the lack of communication and direction.

So what do you do? There is no specific right course of action. But there are many wrong ways. Do not bury your head in the sand. Unite with your co-owners and communicate.  If you are fortunate you will get answers and direction from within your community. If not then as a group, employ a solicitor.
