In April this year my husband and I bought a leaseback property in Torcy Paris through Imoinvest and now have the deeds in our possession.
However, to date we have not received a form from IMOINVEST to apply for the TVA. We were told by the broker in the London Office that they would arrange for the application for the TVA refund for us. We were told everything was in hand . However, to ensure everything was allright I asked for a copy of the application that had been made or a receipt to prove that the application had been received by the French tax authorities or details of the person who was dealing with this part of the scheme. We wanted this in case there were any problems with the French tax office. However, despite asking for this on severla occasions by phone and also requesting this information several times by email we still have not received confirmation in writing. Our emails have now been blocked and our phone calls ignored.I have now had to contact and incur the costs of hiring a lawyer to deal with this matter on my behalf to confirm for us that this application for the refund has actually been made.We are disgusted with the abominable treatement we have been getting from IMOINVEST. We paid for this small studio fully without taking out a mortgage and invested most of our savings in it. We are not rich by any means and invested in this scheme to give us modest rental income for our retirement. Because of the problems in ensuring that we get the TVA Refund we are now suffering from stress and anxiety. All i am asking for is proof that the application has been made. Also they have not given me any advice on how to apply for the exemption of the tax de fonciere. We completed the application form sent to us by the accountant but were given no advice as to where we were to send it to and despite asking this question no one has responded. We are thorouglhly disgusted with the whole affair. We should be grateful for advice on how we should proceed with this

hi Seamus,

Thought you might be interested to know that I have now been given the correct address to send my H2 application for the exemption of the Taxe de Fonciere.
The tax office to which I sent my application H2 form was the wrong one . However, they were kind enough to forward it to the correct office and I have now been given confirmation of receipt of the application from the tax office.
Just as well I have good navigational skills on the Internet and found it for myself with no thanks to imoinvest.

However still awaiting a reply from IMOINVEST re - when application was made for the TVA reimbursement and if an acknowledgement of receipt was received from the French Inland Revenue . Not much chance of that though with my experience so far of IMOINVESTs non existent After Care Customer Service.

However thanks to your and Glenn's websites I now have the evidence confirmed in writing on your websites that they have made the application. So we should receive a TVA refund within the year.

I would like to thank you again for your help and support through this stressful experience. You have given me confidence that everything will be alright.

cheers Anna Smith

Well, I've dealt with imoinvest and they have been ok. I used a solicitor who specialises in French property (Turner and co), because I don't speak French. Yes, it was beaurocratic and frustrating with the forms and everything, but I expected it to be so. I think it'll be worth it in the long run. Furthermore, I did the purchase, arranged the mortgage, the lease contract and a bank account simultaneously. I don't think I could've managed without a solicitor monitoring it. I've learned that nothing in life is ever as straightforward as you would like it to be.

yes you are right I think it is a good idea to use a solicitor when you are dealing with people in a Foreign language but it all adds to the costs

Following on from your private email to me I would like to thankyou very much for all the help you have given me ,and for taking the trouble and time to investigate the Email problem on my behalf. From the advice given by you I am now confident that I will receive the TVA due in accordance with French Law. If I do not I will pursue it with the French Consulate in Edinburgh. I would also like to say this is a vey good website where all points of view can be aired . This gives the would be purchasers both the negative and positive sides of entering a leaseback scheme and thus enabling them to make a well balanced considered decision. I hope to keep in touch with this website to share good as well as bad experiences .
