How much tax do I pay?

I have a few quick questions:

1. If my rent including VAT is 6,600 and my mortgage is 10,000 per year (a 3,400 deficit) how much tax do I pay to the french govt.

2. Do I need to have an accountant or can I do my returns myself? If I need one how much do they cost and does anyone know of a good one who doesn't rip you off?

Just another note on taxes - As stated above you are supposed to declare any and all overseas income in your country of residance. Also when you are calculating the taxable income you are normally only allowed to take the mortgage interest and not the full mortgage payment as as an expense.
